About me

I grew up in the desert of Phoenix, Arizona, the middle child of a blended family. I fell in love with singing, dancing, and gymnastics and spent my childhood enjoying these activities. I went on to study Musical Theater in Philadelphia at the University of the Arts and received my Bachelor’s in Fine Arts. After college I worked as an actor around the country and then began studying yoga. I went to India and Nepal and became certified to teach and have since taught in NYC, Ghana, and Ecuador. I teach privately in the city now.

Being the middle child of seven children, I was brought up by my siblings, and helped raised my younger ones. I spent my high school years babysitting neighborhood children (pre-k - 6th grade). I spent summers teaching theater camps at local art centers (children ages 5 - 14). I spent summers of my college years performing at a resort in Maine, I would help run the afternoon childcare program, (20 children, ages 5 - 18). I also spent those summers privately babysitting infants and toddlers. After high school, I had a consistent after school babysitting job with a family of two girls ages 4 and 7.

While in New York, I have been an after-school babysitter for a 4 year old pre-k boy. This job included picking him up from school, providing a snack, providing entertainment, helping him nap, and taking him to any appointments. I also have babysat for a family with a 2 year old boy and 7 year old girl. I travelled with this family for ten days to Croatia and Montenegro and was on call 24/7 for any help the family needed while on the trip.

Since 2018, I have worked as a SmartSitter for a few families in and around the city. I’ve travelled upstate and stayed in home with a family for a few weeks to help out. I’ve also worked beside a stay at home mom, helping with her two children. My most recent family was a full time position with two children in two separate homes. I would travel with the children between both homes and provide care from morning into the night. Duties for these roles included making breakfast, getting ready for school, school drop off/pick up, house cleaning, playtime, homework help, dinner making, and helping with bed time.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Building upon my dream mission project. Continuing my passion for singing and sharing music with others. Continuing my education in the Yogic Arts. Deepening my own practice of yoga while sharing the practice and teachings with others. Helping the world however I can.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Yoga, meditation, singing, dancing, and travel! I have found that when I spend enough time with a child and we get to know each other, I can share my world with them. Sometimes I’ll show videos of my travels. Monkeys in India, goats in Ghana, and mountains in Ecuador. I share practices of yoga by playfully introducing poses to children while we are together. For any child involved in sports or any physical activity, yoga is a very strong method of stretching to help keep joints healthy and the body relaxed. Sometimes I use breath work as a meditation every time we enter and exit home, or whenever we are feeling stressed, or whenever we get hurt on the playground and the fear of the moment is more painful than what happened. Just depends on the moment. The singing and dancing is used all as a way to create joy in any moment. I like to play songs the kids like and I love to dance and sing…I’ll be ready to belt it out whenever they are. I find that a lot of children can be shy with these activities so I like to make them feel comfortable and supported as they explore their voice and body. Nothing about this is forced and there is no real desired outcome. It is only with the intention to share.
