About me

My name is Kaitlyn and I graduated college with my BFA in Production and Design focusing in Stage Management. I have done theatre my entire life and and have such a passion for it. When I was about 13 years old I started to help raise my baby cousin with my mom and sister. While taking care of her I realized I had such a passion for working with children. At the age of 16, I started to watch and babysit the children in my neighborhood. I was watching babies from 6 months old to 10 years old. I was watching them after school and late nights on weekends. I also did some over night stays to watch the children. The normal routine was picking them up from school, helping with homework, playing, making them food, bath time and bed time. I did this while I was in high school and when I came for college for breaks or the summers.

In 2015 I began working at Tutor Time in Brooklyn which is a daycare that focused in ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. While there, I became trained to work with infants and got certifications in various child care areas. I have been there for 3 years and still work there on occasion when they need extra help.

For the last 2 years I have been stage managing off- Broadway shows in the city at night and came across working with children at a summer camp in New Jersey last year as well as this past August. The children were ages 11-18. While there, I also taught art classes to the kids.

I always find my way back to working with children because there is nothing that makes me happier than to watch and help them grow in every aspect I can. I am very fun, energetic, trustworthy and a well rounded person. I am very artistic and I am dedicated to helping children express themselves and understand the world around them today.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Teaching theatre and art to students in either elementary or high school. I plan on going back to school this spring and getting my Masters in Education. I want to be able to inspire and encourage children to be more involved in the Arts.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I would love to teach children skills such as how to tell stories, problem solving and critical thinking. I also like to teach them how to express themselves in ways that make them feel comfortable. I love doing arts and crafts, playing educational games that make them think, playing sports, dancing, acting, singing, encouraging them to read and write outside of school, and painting or drawing.
