About me

I have been working with children since I was thirteen years old. When I was thirteen I began being an assistant dance teacher at my dance studio and loved every second of it. I truly enjoyed watching the kids as they got excited about dancing and mastered new skills each week. So many of the children got so excited to see me and the other student teachers and were so excited to be at dance class that I fell in love with teaching them. Since then, I have had many opportunities to teach and work with children. I have been an assistant teacher at my Hebrew school, where I worked with children aged 7-12 in their Hebrew classes. I especially enjoyed working with an inclusion class, where I taught children with various special needs and helped them prepare for their Bar/Bat Mitzvahs. Watching the children succeed at something that they struggled with and the excitement and joy they had was infectious (and reminded me of myself, struggling in my Hebrew classes as a child). These children were always excited to learn and grow and I enjoyed getting to be a part of their journey. Finally, after college my five-year-old niece who I used to babysit and spend a lot of time with, passed away suddenly. I was with her so often I missed the joy she brought to my life and the fun we used to have. This is what inspired me to apply to be an assistant teacher at a day care. Teaching was one of the best career moves I could have made. I loved making memories with the children, helping them develop a love of learning and creativity, and teaching them valuable skills. I became very close with some of the families in my almost three years there and still keep in touch with many of them today (my first pre-kindergarteners are now in first grade!). I love watching them on their journeys and cherish that many of them still come to me for advice and to have fun. I love introducing the children I have taught to the arts. Some of my favorite projects I've done in my classes have been acting out fairytales, painting murals, and making music. I love telling the kids about the shows I have been in. I also believe being a performer has taught me a lot and has helped me with caring for children. Performing has taught me how to multitask, how to change a plan at a moments notice, how to command a room, and how to be entertaining and fun.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Having a successful acting career and teaching theater or dance classes. I would love to perform but I am really passionate about teaching as well and being able to teach students something I am so passionate about would really combine my two worlds. I still hope to be close with many of my former students that I still keep in touch with. I would love to spend my nights performing and my days teaching.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to craft! Anything involving paint and glitter is always a fun day. I'm also really big on recycle art. It's such a fun project to find all the "garbage" and scrap materials laying around and seeing what you can make with them. I love doing science experiments I find on Pinterest as well. The kids are always so in awe of science and exploring. I love introducing kids to my favorite books from when I was a kid, especially the ones that really aren't popular anymore.
