About me

If my family and friends were asked to describe me in two words, they would say I am passionate and creative. Even since I first began working with children, when I was in 9th grade and volunteered to walk preschool children from their parents’ cars to their classrooms, I discovered my passion for childcare. Over the past 10 years, I have gained a variety of childcare experiences. I was a Head Counselor at summer camp for three years, I led a healthy after-school cooking program for middle school students for two years, I babysat for the children of my college professors all four years of college and, now, I currently teach health and cooking workshops in a public high school in NYC. In addition, I am also incredibly passionate about educating children about health. I am a vegetarian and a confident chef and I would be excited to share my passion for cooking with the children I babysit! Furthermore, I was vegan and gluten free for two years so I am knowledgeable about allergies and dietary restrictions.

While working with children, I develop a safe, structured and creative environment. One of the main reasons why I enjoy working with children is because of their incredible imaginations and creativity. As an award-winning documentary filmmaker and creative individual, I am always planning fun, engaging and intellectually stimulating activities for the children I babysit. I enjoy learning about children’s interests and developing creative, hands-on learning opportunities for children such as visiting museums, watching engaging, age-appropriate documentary films and learning about different cultures by cooking dishes from around the world.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

First and foremost, I love to cook and I enjoy sharing this with the children I babysit. I am a big proponent of hands-on learning and believe cooking is an important skill that all children should have the opportunity to learn. I also love teaching sports--such as soccer and kickboxing--and believe exercise can can be a wonderful, positive outlet for children's energy. Finally, I enjoy making and watching documentary films and I would love to share age-appropriate, fun and informative films with the children I babysit.
