About me
Kristine lived across the alley from my family and I growing up - she had a bunch of dogs, a trampoline, she was older than me, I was certain she was the coolest girl in our town, and best of all, she was my babysitter.
In my experience, growing up with great babysitters is the best way to learn to be a great babysitter yourself. Inspired by Kris, I babysat as soon as I was old enough, and took many-a-page from her playbook -- I strive to be playful, firm, sympathetic, resourceful, and inventive. I believe in creating a safe environment where kids feel free to express themselves and try new things, and where getting frustrated is not the end of a conversation but the beginning of one.
My experience is with kids of all ages, from infants to high schoolers, and when I'm not working as an actor, I've always sought out work that involves children - babysitting, working as a camp counselor, volunteering. They ground me and challenge me to think outside myself, and frankly, they really crack me up sometimes. I truly enjoy spending time with kids on the most basic level, and figuring out what works for them and what doesn't.
I have professional child care experience with...
- Toddlers
- Preschoolers
- School-aged (K-5)
- Preteen
- Teenagers
In 5 years, I hope to be...
A working actor and artist that can sustain myself on my work alone. Though, I am hoping some of my friends will have kids by then so I'll have some babies to squish!
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
I approach the world through an artist's lens - which to be clear isn't about slacking on discipline or structure! It is more about the ability to look at the world from multiple angles. Inventing something special out of every-day objects, or following a whim and seeing where it takes us. For example, interrupting reading time because we want to know more about the greek god Zeus referenced in our book, and going on a deep dive into Greek mythology for fifteen minutes! I also enjoy problem solving with kids as a team, and aim to empower kids to make their own great choices.
