About me

I come from a long line of women who served as great teachers and leaders of their communities. My mother, my aunt, and my grandmother were fine examples of what those who care for children should be. Many of my early childhood memories involve reading a book to a class, helping those younger than me with their schoolwork, and serving in leadership roles in after school programs and summer camps.

I was twelve years old when my brother was born. The experience of caring for a newborn at such a young age earned me opportunities to care for the children of my mother's co-workers. They were new mothers who left their young babies with me, knowing they would be thoroughly attended to and cared for. I spent the next few years and majority of my teenage time functioning as a peer mediator, a Drama teacher at a performing arts camp, and babysitting for families in the neighborhood. From there, nannying followed and supported me through my time at NYU, my time in Paris, and now, it's something I find great pleasure and support in.

Most recently, I found myself working alongside one of the most beautiful souls I've ever encountered. She is ten years old, I met her when she was eight years old, and she has both Down Syndrome and Autism. I served as her paraprofessional one-to-one aid for two years in an elementary school environment. During my time in this position, I earned my RBT certification and learned how to readily adapt and work within behavioral plans.

My movement background and BFA in Acting from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts has lent me a great deal of openness and patience in being with children. My ultimate goal is to create a fun, expansive environment that allows the child/children growth, education, and most importantly joy. Whether that means baking a vegan pizza from scratch, going on a trip to the Museum of Natural History, or looking at a picture book, it will be infused with a touch of JB flare.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to share and teach movement and music with children. There's a myth going around that only certain people can sing and dance. It's the furthest from the truth. The key is learning to sing and move in a way that feels right to you! I've created many a song and dance with a few chords of a guitar and children love it and feel empowered with their creativity moving forward. I also love to teach cooking. Sometimes it can be intimidating, but with shows like Chopped Jr. we've all seen that cooking is half encouragement and half experimenting. That is what I bring to the table! Safety of course is a must, but some of my best recipes have come from nannying. My JB pasta is a favorite and gummy worm brownie sundaes are some of the incredible discoveries I've made while nannying.
