About me

My name is Ashley Jossell-Curry, I've lived in the city for over ten years. I am originally from Chicago and I have a twin sister! As an extrovert who naturally thrives around people, I discovered my passion for childcare in my late teens when I started babysitting. Over the past ten years, I've gained extensive experience and found immense joy in caring for children of all ages.

Most recently, I served as the on-site program coordinator for ages 0-4 at Fort Greene-Clinton Hill Playgroup. Additionally, I'm the go-to babysitter for numerous families in the area, offering my services for various date nights and special occasions. Known for my active, engaging, and creative approach, I make it a priority to create a fun and enjoyable environment for children. My average day to day with children includes making light meals, creating games/activities supervising/checking homework, coordinating playdates, lots of play time at parks or playgroups/museums, bath time etc.

My background includes diverse roles such as a camp counselor at Camp Kippewa, where I focused on fostering self-confidence, independence, and a love for community and nature. Working at Disney World in Florida allowed me to create engaging activities for children of all ages. I've also served as a caregiver for special needs children and those with behavioral challenges through the S.P.E.E.D school district, where I honed my communication skills and learned the importance of setting boundaries and catering to individual needs.

Getting to know each child individually is something I take pride in. Safety, courtesy, and efficiency are my top priorities. My bright and fun energy inspires a playful environment that encourages children to be themselves. With a background in musical theatre and over eleven years of childcare experience, including five years in infant childcare, I bring a vibrant and engaging approach to childcare, facilitating developmental milestones and fostering self-confidence.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Skills I love to share with children are dance (this can be a stress reliever for a lot of children and also can be liberating for them to let loose), music (whether singing or playing/rehearsing with them if they have a set instrument they play), and improv games in both music and acting.
