About me
After graduating from Pitzer College in May 2012, I moved to Brooklyn, New York and never left. Since moving here, I have built up the community of artists, writers, and musicians of my dreams. The passion and hustle of New York City is why I love it and why I have been happy here long past the time most people give up on it.
I've worked with children of every age, from those just learning to walk to those just beginning to grapple with their identities as (almost) independent teenagers. I love watching children learn and grow, and I feel that it's a privilege to have some bearing on that development. I believe, now more than ever, that children need to witness what it means to be a strong, responsible, empathetic, moral adult.
I love to write and find time to do it every day. Although the state of journalism can seem dismal, I believe fervently in its necessity. I write everything from reported articles to scripts to think pieces — the act of producing creative work brings me a lot of joy. I think this holds true for children as well and I love to help them find what kind of creating brings them happiness, whether it's making magic happen with science kits, (extremely) abstract hand painting, or acting out their own plays for an audience of one.
I have professional child care experience with...
- Infants
- Toddlers
- Preschoolers
- School-aged (K-5)
- Preteen
- Teenagers
- Twins
In 5 years, I hope to be...
getting paid to make stuff with the community of artists I surround myself with in Brooklyn.
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
Writing is my major passion but music has always been a big part of my life and it's always thrilling to connect with a child who has a budding passion for it as well. I'm a closet musical theater nerd and love when kids love to perform.
