About me

My name is Berkley, and childcare is a huge passion of mine. I believe that when we listen and interact with children, we learn more about ourselves, and are reminded of simple yet vitally important life lessons such as kindness, patience, and acceptance.

Since my teenage years, I have been working with children. I started in my local church, counseling and caring for younger children during the annual summer camps. Then, in high school I was part of an exclusive class known as Peer Assistant Leadership Service ( PALS), in which we would mentor troubled students or students with disabilities, ranging from elementary to middle school age.

I became extremely close with the children I would babysit. As I was able to babysit most of them from 8th grade through my summer breaks from college, I was able to develop a personal relationship with each child. Lastly, during my summers back from college, I taught dance classes and local arts camps at the dance studio I grew up in. It was so fulfilling to work with children ages 3 to 14, while teaching them something I am extremely passionate about. I saw these children step out of their comfort zone, believe in themselves, and see first hand that they could do anything they put their mind and hard work to!

The truth is I am a kid at heart. I am super positive, optimistic, and try to live fearlessly. I am living in New York City, hoping to be a professional actor, singer, dancer on Broadway. I love to explore new places, try new foods, and challenge myself to step outside my comfort zone. I am very into my health and fitness, and I have a personal blog that advocates for self-love, self-confidence, and creating your best YOU. I've been happily married for half a year, and hope to one day start a family of my own!

I think these aspects of myself are perfect when working with children. I am active, and can keep up with whatever games a child wants to play. I am creative and encouraging, and can rock a game of make believe or dress up. Ultimately, I want to help a child feel safe, confident, and loved! I know that when working with children, I personally have learned so much about myself, and have been brought such joy.
