About me

I have been working with children ever since I can remember. With my time assisting dance classes as a junior high school student, as a part-time babysitter in the high school years, and in college as a nanny and dance instructor, I have always had a joy when working with children. Through my experiences, I have been able to work with children of all ages and have loved every minute of it. From teaching them right from wrong, how to stick to a daily schedule, and how to be creative while having fun, my skills have allowed me to effectively communicate with the kids and provide a delightful experience for not only the kids but me as well. As a dancer, I understand how important it is to be dedicated to a set of rules, but also have a need for creativity and a chance to break those rules. I understand that life is a balance and try to give opportunities for the children to learn that same life skill. I also live a healthy lifestyle and know how to make nutritionally balanced meals and have experience avoiding allergies.

I have worked with almost all ages of children. Teaching at a dance studio, I was able to work with children from the ages of 2-20. I have the most experience with children in the 3-12 range. I have been a part-time babysitter for many years with girls between the ages of 2-7, as well. I love working with this age because they are so ready to play and love life.

I also have experience working as a full-time nanny over the summer. I organized summer camps, did pick up and drop off, created fun and educational games for us to play, and was very hands on. Any activity the kids (one boy, 7, and one girl, 5) did, I did as well. I am very interactive and make sure the children didn't spend more than an hour on the TV or iPad. I encouraged outside games, different trips around the city, and games to play in the house together. I also managed the food and cooking while ensuring safety for peanut allergies.

When I work with children, I am very hands-on and interactive and play directly with the children almost 100 percent of the time. I enjoy making up imaginative games and creative fun for us to do together. I believe that interacting with the children is one of the most important parts of nannying/babysitting because through human connection and socializing, that is when they are most receptive and have the ability to learn. I want the children to enjoy my time there and don't consider nannying/babysitting a 'job,' it is the opportunity to spend time with kids and just play!

In 5 years, I hope to be...

A choreographer for a dance company or my own dance company. I have been specializing in blending theater forms into modern dance styles and have been wanting to get that to the audiences of today. I would also love to get the chance to be in a Broadway show somewhere! Have to keep those dreams big!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to be as interactive with the children as much as I can. I enjoy sharing my imaginative/creative side with them and believe that is one of the best parts about being a child. I encourage them to create and dream as much as they can! I create games and activities where we can play and 'just be a kid.' As a person, I try to not take life too seriously, and try to teach the kids that it is okay to have fun!
