About me

Growing up in New York City has been pivotal in my childhood and has had a significant impact on my life. It has allowed me to not only gain experience, but also be exposed to a vast array of what life has to offer. I am the older of two children and have a younger sister. We had and still have a close relationship, even though she no longer lives in NYC. As a child one of my biggest passions was being creative whether that be working in a variety of art forms or cooking. I currently am a member of a ceramics collective and have started taking glassblowing classes again. I loved and still thoroughly enjoy the creative process and expressing myself. Currently, I am in graduate school getting a Masters in Mental Health and Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from Hunter College. I received my BA in Psychology from Muhlenberg College in 2011. After graduating with my Master’s Degree I hope to work with students or young adults who have disabilities to advocate for them and teach them the necessary skills to be independent members of society.

Working with children has always been a passion of mine as I thoroughly enjoy seeing them grow and change. I have been working with children in a variety of capacities for over 8 years including as a counselor at many summer camps and as an afterschool and evening and weekend babysitter. I have worked with 5 families consistently as an afterschool, weekend, and evening babysitter. In all of these positions the children ranged in age from 3 to 16 years old. My responsibilities for the afterschool hours included school pickup, taking the children to their after school activities, providing the kids with a snack, homework help, dinner prep, sitting with the children while they ate, general cleanup, overseeing the night time routine including in some cases giving the children a bath, and putting the children to bed if the parents were out late. I always made it fun for the children and came up with creative ways to get a mundane task completed. When I babysat on weekends it was all about having fun whether that be baking with the kids, cooking, or playing games.

I am extremely reliable, dependable, and organized. I understand the fine balance of allowing children to explore yet setting boundaries when necessary. My sharp attention to detail lends itself to taking on any task that is placed upon me from running around the city to cooking meals for a family. I always try and make every task fun and enjoy being very creative while actively engaging children.
