About me

When I was in high school I was fortunate enough to have a part-time job working for the after-school program at a local Catholic school, and during my time there I learned a great deal about children. Working with these forty children every day was a very rewarding experience because I was always dealing with new challenges and situations. Whether one of the kindergarteners didn't want to nap and tried to make an escape, the pack of 8th grade girls got in a disagreement, or one of the 3rd graders decided to be creative with what he drew on with his markers; I was always there to help coral, be a referee, or be the clean up crew.

After high school, I studied acting and vocal performance at Stephens College and cultivated my detail-oriented, problem-solving personality. From my time studying theatre I learned a great deal that comes in handy when caring for children: How to tell stories, be engaging and attentive so they know they are really being heard, and how to prepare an exciting batch of games and activities are just the most frequently used of these!

Through college, I was led to my current babysitting position, as a part-time (sporadic) sitter for twin girls (age 8) who have been absolute joys. From making dinner to adventures in the park, I always have fun with these kids, and they are two of my favorite people. Whenever I babysit the girls I can expect to pick them up at school by 4 pm, take them home on the bus, and go about preparing or ordering in dinner. After dinner, I referee for whose turn it is to take a bath first, and then have the girls pick between a tv show or reading time (these kids are amazing, they usually pick reading) before bed.

From high school to college to babysitting in the city, I have always maintained the best way to care for a child is to be involved in conversation, always ensuring that they feel listened to and stimulated. In addition to that, my favorite activities are always ones where we get to experience the outdoors and they get to use their imaginations. Children like me because I am fun, attentive, and charismatic. Parents like me because I am detail oriented, organized, and always up for anything.
