About me

I have worked both occasionally and long term with children 3-4 months old to 14 years old. Before working at the pre-school, I babysat for multiple families in my neighborhood for 7 years. Families with multiple children and children of all ages. Now I work at a pre-school for children with special needs and I love it! They are admitted to the program when they are 3 years old, sometimes a bit younger, and they stay with us until they are ready for kindergarten. Our focus is to get them as ready as possible for that next step so when they move on they have a smoother transition. We work on the academic aspects of schooling as well as their social-emotional skills. Every day is a new adventure with them; they are so much fun and cute, they teach me patience, understanding and unconditional love. I feel fortunate to be in a position where I can make a difference in a child's life. I have a bachelor's degree in arts; I love to teach arts and crafts to children and help them come in contact with their inner artist. Grand part of our curriculum is taught through arts and crafts, we find it is a great way to engage them, it helps them to focus and learn.

Children are very sweet and genuine, they don't know how to be fake. With them what you see is what you get, no apologies. When working with children communication is key, it is important to explain to our children the reasons why we need to follow rules and not expect them to follow suit just because we say so. I believe in treating others the way I would like to be treated, and it starts with our children. We should always teach by example.

Just like the children I work with, I am a very active person. When the weather is nice I'm always out and about. I like going for long walks in the park, riding my bike along the Hudson River, taking dance lessons, going out with friends and family... I love trying new things at least once. I enjoy participating in social activities with friends, whoever said: "the more the merrier" was absolutely right!
