About me

Hello families!

I found my passion for childcare when my two younger sisters were born. Babysitting them never felt like a chore and I truly enjoyed creating fun activities for them to do. We grew up in a tight-knit Co-housing community (an intentional community of private homes clustered around shared space) in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where kids were not only running around and having fun but also helping cook huge dinners for the whole community! It was a great place to be a kid, and I learned a lot from babysitting my sisters and their friends in that environment.

Since then, I have not only continued to expand on my childcare experience but have also had numerous formal teaching positions. From being a lead teacher at a preschool, assisting in an after-school elementary school program, teaching at an arts summer camp, teaching English in France to elementary students, and coordinating a high school-in-college program, I have worked with every age of children from infancy to high school. Through these formal positions, I have met and babysat for many amazing kids. I frequently babysat a two-year-old girl, a two-year-old girl, and her newborn twin brother and sister, a two-year-old boy and his infant sister, and three siblings ages two, three, and five. I would babysit them after school and on the weekends, taking them to the park, cooking for them, and having a ton of fun with them!

I believe children learn best through play (within a structured environment) and STEM projects that they can explore thoroughly and creatively. First and foremost, children must feel safe, secure, and supported by having their basic needs met, and I make sure to create this environment for them so that learning can take place. Once these needs are met, we can have fun while learning and fostering a positive relationship. I not only have experience creating and implementing age-appropriate lesson plans, but I also love to create projects based on their ideas.

Building on my bachelor’s degree in photography, one of the things I enjoy most about working with children is being able to use my creativity and experience to create fun activities. Art and photography are two of my greatest passions, and I love sharing my knowledge and excitement of these topics with children. I love anything I can put my creativity into, including cooking, baking, yoga, and practicing my language skills in Chinese and French. I love to make a positive impact on children and I love to learn from them too!
