About me

I am someone who has always been the "mom" of my friend group because I love to take care of people -- it's in my nature. My childcare experience began when my first half sister was born when I was 12. I would help my stepmom out by watching and playing with my baby sister so she could have a moment to breathe; this continued when my second half sister was born a couple years later.

I am originally from North Carolina and in high school, I started my own babysitting business around my neighborhood and in the greater Raleigh area. For four years, I booked the occasional date night and after-school babysitting job for families with children ages 3-9.

After going to college in Nashville and moving to New York City for my Master's in Opera, I began babysitting five days a week in the summer for a set of 10-year-old twins. This continued throughout the school year with periodic after-school pickups and activities in the evening.

As a singer and pianist, music and creativity fuel everything I do, childcare included. I love to create a space for a child to flourish creatively in a safe environment. It brings me so much joy to see a child engage that part of themselves through both structured activities and free play. I am also currently a beginner piano teacher. I teach piano to children ages 4-7 in a common childcare space or in their homes around the city.

Exploring my surroundings and learning about other cultures are two of my favorite past times. These are activities I really enjoy sharing with children because they can help cultivate a child's own views of the world around them (and what better place to do this than New York City?). Childcare is so important to me because, as cliché as it sounds, children are our future, and if I can create a meaningful relationship with a child and teach them something, I will be helping them become a future outstanding member of our society, or at least point them in the right direction and have fun doing so!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Truly letting go of insecurities and learning to fully play. Teaching them how to play piano or sing, or simply listening and appreciating all different types of music. How to be a friend while also learning respect for authority.
