About me

I began working with children (as a mother's helper) when I was 11 years old, and it has been a passion of mine ever since. I attended a boarding high school, and so I had the opportunity to interact with faculty children on a day-to-day basis. I found babysitting, and simply being around those children, to be an enriching respite from the stresses of high school. In 2010, when I was 20, a friend and I founded Shooting Star Arts Camp, a summer day camp for creative kids ages 4-9, located in Lakeville, CT. The camp has run for four summers. We teach dance, visual arts, music, theater, and more, for 8 hours a day, to as many as 15 children at a time. This past summer, we added a Junior Counselor leadership program for children ages 8-12. Running my own camp, and sharing the things I love most with a new generation of budding artists, has honestly been the highlight of my life. I also have five years of experience working with children in New York City, ranging in age from infants to teenagers. I also love tutoring children, particularly in reading and writing. In addition to private tutoring, I have taught writing workshops to elementary schoolers and have volunteered at writing centers.
