About me

When I was in the fourth grade I spent the day at work with my aunt who was a preschool teacher. After that day, I knew I wanted to work with children. I enjoyed everything about working in the classroom, from the academic component down to the art activities. As I entered high school, I went back and forth with what I wanted to major in for college. I initially majored in nursing but was overwhelmed with the science requirements, and the reality of seeing blood helped me make my decision to go back into education. I majored in Human Services with a minor in education.

I was interested in working with children but also wanted to connect with their families. Because most of my experience comes from special education, taking up human services helped to teach me skills to work with high-risk families. Over the years I have enjoyed helping families and have found myself going above and beyond for them.

Over the years I have provided childcare to a variety of age groups ranging from infant to teenagers. I have to say, I particularly enjoy working with ages infants to 8. Most of my childcare experience comes from babysitting toddlers. The curiosity of this age group is fun. My most recent babysitting jobs are with two separate families who have a 3-year-old and a 4-year-old. This past weekend i took the 4 year old to the central park zoo. We spent the day talking about seals and penguins. I look forward to experiencing this with new families and their children.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I enjoy taking children on walks and to museums. I enjoy the curiosity children have for new activities and answering their questions. I also enjoy helping children with their homework. This is a great chance to understand how children learn.
