About me

When I was a little girl, my playtime revolved around feeding my baby dolls, dressing them, taking them on “family vacations” around the house, and making sure they were cared for as if they were real. Although my professional childcare experience began in college, I was naturally drawn and hooked to this profession since I was just a child myself. Since entering the childcare industry, I have had the pleasure of working with a multitude of families, serving as a teacher and leader for children’s theatre camps and programs, and working on the Special Events Team at New York Kids Club. I have experience working with children who are still in diapers all the way to age 18, and I thoroughly enjoy working with every age group. Each one brings their own set of rewards and challenges that I fully embrace.

My professional experience working with children began within the theatre community. While in college, I was the Assistant Director and teacher for the “Stars in the Making Day Camp” with Alpine Theatre Works. I worked with elementary school aged children and was responsible for supervising their well being while teaching and immersing them in theatre, dance, and music. After graduating college, I worked at the Barn Theatre for three summers as a group leader and program instructor for their "Backstage Xperience" program, an arts education outreach program for children ages 5-18. I worked with thousands of children, and whether I was teaching them choreography from the shows or leading them through the entire program, I always strived to create an uplifting and engaging environment where they felt safe to learn and grow.

In addition to working with children through arts education programs, I have experience as a temporary and regular babysitter for New York City families. I have worked with many different families with children from the ages of 2-10, as well as multiples. With these families, I took on a vast amount of responsibilities including school drop off/pickup, helping with homework, preparing and serving meals, bedtime routines, and creating fun and exciting age-appropriate activities and outings.

Along with working with individual families and children, I work at New York Kids Club, an accredited New York preschool, as a Special Events Team Member. In this role, I am responsible for assisting with Birthday Parties, Pajama Parties, and Family Fun Events. I create high-energy experiences in a creative and thematic setting while also facilitating children’s activities, serving food, and ensuring all transitions run smoothly.

Along with cultivating a fun, positive, and nurturing environment, I love to do creative activities and projects with the children I babysit. I believe the arts can teach a child discipline, self-confidence, and critical thinking skills in an exciting and enjoyable way. Although I am a strong advocate for creative learning and play, I am a responsible person who can follow a stricter, more structured schedule depending on the needs of the child and parent.

One of my favorite things is helping others and seeing them succeed, which is why I value the opportunity to play a role in a child’s development. I believe that children are the future, and every time I babysit a child, I’m honored to get a glimpse into the bright and incredible future we have!

In 5 years, I hope to be...

In 5 years, I hope to be the founder and artistic director of a children’s theatre company. My two greatest passions in life are children and theatre, so combining them on a grand scale has always been something that interests me. I want to give children the opportunity to learn, grow, and gain an appreciation for the arts in a fun and safe environment that also pushes them to be their absolute best. Although the company would just be beginning its inception in five years, I eventually hope to provide classes in theatre, dance, and music for children of all ages and skill levels, as well as produce multiple full-scale productions and outreach programs for children who may not normally have the opportunity to be exposed to the arts.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

When I’m with children, I definitely enjoy helping them create skits, singing their favorite songs, drawing/coloring, and having dance parties. While these activities are fun for the kids, they are also educational, and the dance parties help get them moving and active. I also love getting kids outside and going to different places in the city, such as the park or a museum. In all I do while babysitting, I also try to instill the ideas of teamwork and cooperation into the children. I think these attributes are extremely important and can be taught while doing even the simplest tasks.
