About me

I am the oldest of ten cousins and have spent my entire life surrounded by children. When I was ten years old and my youngest cousin was born, I was so taken with him that my aunt and uncle decided to make me his god-mother: a title I grow more and more honored by as time goes on. My family situation led me to seek childcare opportunities in other aspects of my life. When I was 13 years old, I went door to door on my block and handed out business cards for my babysitting services. From then on, I have taken care of newborns all the way through college age, as a TA in my university.

My work with infants has included nap scheduling, bottle and solid feeding, outings, play, diaper changing and first aid. With toddlers and young children, I have helped with potty-training, basic reading, counting, language skills, French basics, first aid, feeding and helping in the kitchen, play (both outdoor and indoor), yoga and meditation, nap scheduling, conflict resolution skills, as well as outings. With older children and teens, I have helped with homework, communication skills, promotion of healthy lifestyle (mental, physical and emotional), French, first aid, encouragement of reading and the arts, and instilling and structure within which they feel free to flourish. Above all, I pride myself on my compassion, patience, and sense of play: all things I try to help instill in the children I work with, regardless of age.

I believe at the end of the day, one the most important skill to hone is the ability to communicate. I believe in helping children build this skill so that they feel confident and able to communicate with both myself, as well as the parent. I also believe as an employee, an open and honest channel of communication is key to a healthy, long-lasting relationship. At the end of the day, we all have the same goal: to raise happy and healthy children. Open communication amongst all parties, I believe, is the key to this!

In 5 years I hope to be living in New York with a few deep connections with various families who have trusted me to help them with their children.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to share with children my love of acting and the world of theatre. I believe the theatre teaches and encourages creativity, team work, discipline, confidence, punctuality and above all, compassion. I love to incorporate my love of theatre, with my love of reading and encouraging children to create and use their imagination! Healthy living is a very important part of my life, and a really fun part! I love cooking, and I love to involve children in the kitchen. I also love sharing my love of the outdoors, whether that means splashing in puddles (in appropriate attire!), creating a magical land in the back yard, or playing with other kids in the park!
