About me

From my sophomore year of high school up until now, I've had 10 years of childcare experience. I never thought the babysitting jobs I took on would come with their own reward of helping kids learn and grow. And I certainly never thought I'd go from babysitting to working at a daycare, let alone becoming a preschool teacher. I've come to understand the importance a guiding hand has in developing young minds, and I am proud to be a part of that process.

I am a graduate of Emerson College with a passion for storytelling and letting my imagination run wild; two traits that I put to use as a caretaker. I encourage the kids I look after to be who they are, and I try to bring out their creativity when it comes to free-play. I tell stories and try to discuss them so they can work out for themselves what they have learned.

In my breadth of experience, I have looked after kids from six months to ten years old. Throughout that time I prepared and cooked meals, helped with homework, read stories, did light cleaning, changed diapers and engaged in play with them. I find tabletop games like Connect Four and Guess Who in particular to be helpful in developing social and cognitive skills because learning can be fun!

Whether it was just one child or a group as big as fifteen, I made sure the children all had fun, played nicely and safely, and felt cared for. I'm stern when I have to be, but I believe kids learn and behave at their best when they are given a guiding hand in the right direction rather than adhering to a strict set of rules.
