About me

As an experienced caretaker and educator I have always believed that everyone’s voice should be heard and encouraged. I take a holistic approach to education and the care of children. I value respect: all students can expect to be treated with kindness and an open mind. I strive to create a nurturing environment where children are provided with warmth, structure, creativity, and personal choice. I make the young people I work with understand that I am there for them, while encouraging individual expression and creativity with problem solving.

When I was 12 years old, I was assisting dance classes with my mentor, and beginning to babysit children of all ages. After teaching full-time for many years and receiving my MA in Dance Education, with certification PK-12 in NYS, I am lucky enough to be able to work with children in both school, and childcare contexts. I have built relationships that will last a lifetime with the children and families I have taught and taken care of.

I am detail oriented and love to work in a fast paced environment. I am also a certified child Yoga Instructor, and have extensive experience cooking for a multitude of diet preferences and restrictions.

When working with twin girls in the West Village for several years I often helped them do homework, and practice instruments. After they would finish we would often write songs together, or try out playing their favorite pop-songs on the piano and violin. We would often read together while waiting on a treat we had baked together. These experiences of working closely with a family and children, while getting to be a part of their daily routines and enhancing their days with special activities, was something that made me realize that working with children was something I wanted to dedicate myself to, inspiring me to get my Masters in Dance Education.

When working with children, I create a secure, structured environment while leaving plenty of room for creative fun. My teaching experience in play based education and implementing and creating curriculum for young children, puts me in a unique position to not only care for, but help educate the children I care for.
