About me

During one of my first babysitting jobs at age 12, I convinced my skeptical younger cousins (ages 7 and 9) that cleaning their room could be fun by creating a game we called C.U.T.E.R. -- ”Clean Up ThE Room” -- and instantly became a superstar within the family. From that point on, I was the go-to family and neighborhood sitter -- and a career in education and youth development was born. Though my childcare experiences have since graduated from mere room-cleaning, my creativity, positivity, and commitment remain the same.

Empowering children and young people to reach their full potential, and making sure they have the resources, support, and encouragement they need to realize this, is truly my life’s passion and purpose. Over the past 18 years, I’ve worked with children of all ages and at all developmental stages in homes, churches, daycares, schools, and community organizations. Whether it’s helping busy families develop routines with newborns and infants, making sure young children get to and from school safely, leading preschool art lessons, tutoring in after-school programs, or mentoring young adults -- I’ve done and enjoyed it all, and take each role seriously.

As a social worker and nonprofit professional, I believe that all children deserve safe, supportive, caring spaces and influences in their lives. While safety and security are my number one priorities, I’m also a lifelong traveler/explorer and learner, and incorporate these passions when working with children as well. I have a range of interests (cooking, gardening, biking, hiking, singing) and love to share them, but also love when children share their interests with me -- and teach me a few things in the process.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

considered a real New Yorker! Having relocated to NYC, I am still constantly learning about my new home. Other than that, I hope to continue working and thriving as a nonprofit and youth development professional, making the city and world a better place for young people.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love exploring and spending time outside - going on nature walks or "scavenger hunts" in the neighborhood. I also enjoy working on creative projects -- small arts projects, musical or theater performances, creating our own board games, etc. I have also been known to bring my "Mary Poppins" bag of craft supplies, puzzles, and games to keep children entertained (without screens) no matter what their interests are.
