About me

I have been working with children ever since I was old enough to be a mother's helper for my across the street neighbors. I have done everything from working as a counselor at theater day camps to babysitting overnight to being a permanent after-school nanny.

I love getting to know families and being a positive influence on the children I am spending time with. I am in New York primarily pursuing theater - I run a feminist theater company. A goal of our company as we move forward is to begin working with younger girls and women to get them interested in playwriting and storytelling and taking control over their own narratives. That passion is particularly important to me and plays into my everyday work with children.

I value strong and consistent communication, timeliness, and creating a safe and playful environment for the family I'm working with. I have the most experience with ages 2 to 12. I love helping with homework, doing arts and crafts, involving kids in cooking and baking, etc. I like to work within the family's rules and principles.

I have been working primarily with one family over the past year and a half, and they've grown to really feel like a family of my own. I feel so invested in their lives, have helped one of them with school auditions, helped plan and execute a very Harry Potter birthday party, and so much more. The birthday party was one of my favorite things we did together last year because we started and finished the Harry Potter series together in the months prior, so we were so excited to find crafts on Pinterest and figure out creative ways to turn her apartment into a Harry Potter world.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

working consistently in theater as an actor and writer with more community outreach programs in place through my company.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love using any types of my theater experiences to work with kids - in the past I've helped kids write a script and film a short movie, prepped for school auditions, helped with birthday party games and themes, and played some exciting games of charades. I also have tutored them in math, grammar, and reading comprehension. I recently taught a girl I was babysitting how to cross stitch and on a snow day, we each made a new project. I also love figuring out new things with kids and trying recipes if they're old enough and new crafts I see online or hear from other babysitters.
