About me

I have always had a strong desire to help, give back and leave things better than how I had found them. This is how I approach my life, work and relationships with people.

My caring nature has led me to a breadth of experiences working with children in many different settings and walks of life. I started babysitting in my teen years. I found it so fun and interesting to be around the wonderment of a child and see things from their point of view, all the while guiding and teaching them new things every day.

In college, I decided to do my psychology internship at a non-profit for young girls, empowering them with education and tools to be successful in life. Here, I worked with girls from underserved neighborhoods ages 5-18. I taught girls how to manage money, save, basic economic skills, self-esteem, creative writing, cooking, and also launched a beginning music class.

I continued to nanny throughout the years for wonderful families, and had the opportunity to be a long-term nanny for a beautiful set of twins, boy and girl whom I had the privilege of watching grow from ages 5 to 11. My favorite things about working with this family was the strong bond I built with the family, witnessing the children grow through different developmental stages, and now see how they have become such polite, considerate and intelligent pre-teens. It was more than a job, I became a part of the family and a role-model figure for the kids.

During this time, I also worked with children with autism of all ages in the LAUSD school district. Here I taught children skills to help with communication, be more independent, and basic tools to help improve daily functioning.

I have since obtained my Master's degree in marriage and family therapy, which has taught me a deeper understanding of child development, attachment, and the importance of meaningful relationships as the building blocks for a healthy sense of self. I am empathically attuned to children's emotional needs and I believe that communicating to children that their thoughts and feelings are heard makes them feel worthy, significant, and accepted. I take a collaborative approach with parents to caretaking and respect the rules and values that parents have put in place to maintain and unify the structure at home.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

In 5 years I hope to be a licensed marriage and family therapist. I've been working on my licensing hours on the side and it's a long road until I get there, but in turn grants me the ability to continuously grow and learn about myself and others in a deeper way along the way.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to teach children how to paint, draw and read. I think creative expressive, in whatever form that is, is an important outlet for children. I enjoy exploring children's strengths and finding what those creative outlets or activities may be. I also love sharing music with children. Music is another expression that I think is liberating for the soul. Other activities I love engaging in with children are outdoor games and sports, such as hide and seek, horse, swimming, hiking, bike riding and sports.
