About me

When I was 11, I took a CPR class because I wanted to become a babysitter. Growing up my mom's friends children were all younger than me, and I loved getting the chance to play with, read to, and make up games with them. It was getting to spend time with those children that made me decide being a babysitter would just be about the coolest thing an 11 year old could do. Since then, I have been working with kids as a babysitter, nanny, teacher, and find it one of the most fulfilling and rewarding things I have done.

As I have worked in various positions: preschool aid, nanny, and teacher, my love for working with children has only grown. Each of these positions offered me experience that I bring with me everyday when I work with children. From patience and a sense of humor, to the ability to create curriculums, fun learning experiences, diffuse situations, and accommodate different learning styles, every job I have worked, and every child I have had the privilege of caring for has taught me something of value.

I feel that it is an honor to be part of children's lives, and watch them learn and grow. I have worked with children in all stages of development, from 6 months old to teens, and I enjoy what each age group has to offer. I was raised a vegetarian, and am comfortable cooking for various diets. Working in a preschool where many children had severe food allergies, and growing up in a house where my younger brother had his own very severe food allergies, has made me in to a very conscious caregiver and cook.

As a dance, teacher, care giver, and former homeschooler, I am an advocate for child led learning and play. The excitement and curiosity that children approach the world with inspires me, and I love to support and encourage them to explore and try new things. One of my favorite activities to do with kids is (age appropriate) cooking. I see cooking as a way for children to learn about collaboration, math, science, health, and creativity. Not to mention it broadens their dietary horizons and makes them feel accomplished and proud. While I love coming up with fun actives and outings to take kids on, I also believe that is important to give kids space to create their own games and means of entertainment, so they can use their creativity and begin to find their independence.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love sharing my love of crafts, reading and the outdoors with kids. Drawing and painting, reading, creating and illustrating new stories, scavenger hunts, obstacle courses, making fairy houses, fort building, and cooking are just some of the activities and skills that I love sharing with kids. One of my favorite activities to do with kids is finger knitting. It teaches patterns, coordination, and perseverance. Kids are always so proud of what they have accomplished after they get the hang of it, and are eager to share their new skill with their family and friends. I love watching the progress that they make, and how excited they are to show me how long their finger knitting string has become!
