About me
My name is Holly and I've been working with children for over half my life, starting out as a babysitter 12 years old. My interest and passion working with children led me to pursue Early Childhood Education in College, where I received a Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education.
While I was in college, I was a part-time nanny for a few different families, throughout all 4.5 years. The families got to know me at length, and I was fortunate to experience working with different types of parenting styles, different ages of children, and also able to begin practicing executing my Educational background when nannying.
I moved to New York in 2011 where I became a full time nanny for a family with one baby girl. I was with her full time for four years. During the last couple of years I was with her, I began attending Graduate school in the evenings, to pursue a Duo Master's Degree in Early Childhood and Childhood Education at Fordham University's Graduate school of Education. I graduated and received this Degree summer of 2016.
Since then I've taught at two NYC preschools, once as an assistant and once as a head teacher in a UPK program funded by NY State. This two schools provided me with the experience of teaching and being immersed in two different educational philosophies which I now carry with me when I care for children. I then went back into nanny world, so I can more intimate setting, while still wearing my "teacher cap". This past year I taught a private pod of kindergarten students from different families, in a home setting. These have been invaluable experiences and make me the nanny I am today.
I like to fully engage with the children I care for, asking them questions to promote their critical thinking, providing hands-on rich learning activities that allow for multi sensory learning through play. I am very knowledgable and particularly drawn to the ages birth-5 years old. Those ages consist of ever changing physical, emotional and cognitive behaviors and skills and I love being a guide to a child/children while they are navigating these stepping stones. I am very excited to meet a great family!
