About me

I began babysitting when I was very young. I've worked with children of all ages- infancy to young adults with developmental delays. I've worked for families with several children and am quite comfortable sitting large groups. This instilled a love for nature in me at a young age and led me to believe that learning through exploration and hand-on interaction is the vital to a child's true understanding. Studying dance in college made me realize how movement and creative expression can aid in the learning process as well. All of these experiences have influenced my work as an educator and the intention that I bring to my teaching and childcare practice. I am an adventurous person and love taking kids out on fun activities around the city.

Towards the end of my undergraduate degree, I worked for a family with 3 kids, ages 3 to 7. With the 3 year-old, I worked on potty-training while with the 7 year-old we discussed books (she was an avid reader). The 5 year-old was learning to speak Spanish in school and was always very interested in learning new Spanish words.

After returning from a year in Central America, I nannied full-time for an eight month old baby. I was lucky enough to be with her for her first steps, first words, and first birthday; it was so special! Since starting graduate school in 2015, I have worked with preschoolers to second graders, exclusively in bilingual settings. I am now working with preschoolers who have high needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorders. The students are ages 3 and 4 and every day is a new adventure in itself!

I am currently getting my Master's in Dual Language Early Childhood General and Special Education and working as a preschool teacher in Harlem. One of the main things that I love about being around kids all day is that every day is different and new, no matter how many routines are put in place. I love working with kids because I care deeply about how children are educated and I think that the most important gift you can give to a child is a meaningful understanding of the world around them.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Books and reading are some of my favorite things. I love helping kids find their favorite books and reading with them over and over. I also love having a dance party any time of day or night!
