About me
For nearly two decades, I have had the privilege to work as a babysitter, nanny and au pair for many families, mainly on a 2 year+ basis. My childcare experience began babysitting for a 3 year old who lived down the street. After this, my youngest sister was born and due to challenging circumstances within our family I was given a great amount of responsibility in caring for her. Although this was a difficult time it really opened the door for me to understanding the development of an infant into a toddler, child and teenager.
Over the years I was able to step into varied positions -- full time, part time and temporary -- special occasions like travel, band tours and temporary relocation to assist families in moves and other major lifetime events or challenges. Being around children for so long has brought me much joy and laughter, and has been a lifelong learning experience.
I am a patient, understanding, reliable and caring person. These qualities show through in all the work I do, whether in childcare, household help and errands or my position at an arts foundation where I interact with visitors ranging from curious members of the public to VIPs. I am dedicated and attentive, these aspects relate to my work as an artist and writer, but I think they were first born out of my early childcare experience -- the rewarding nature of watching children develop and grow and understanding their steps along the way.
I am a generally curious and creative person who loves to meet new people, to have conversations, to learn and laugh. I've spent a significant amount of time living in Germany and this introduced me to a new side of culture and politics that I hadn't experienced before. All of these parts of my life have taught me how much the world can open up through new experiences and meeting new faces. I look forward to continuing this in meeting and caring for your child or children, through my work as childcare provider.

In 5 years, I hope to be...
publishing my writing, as well as continuing to make and exhibit my own artwork. I would love to one day be able to work on public programming for art institutions, especially involving children and older adults who may feel disconnected or bored in an arts setting.
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
reading, writing, drawing, cooking, climbing and exploring new places. I love to teach children tools for growth and independence -- whether very basic (looking both ways before crossing the street and waiting for the pedestrian sign) to grasping the MTA subway system or a deeper understanding of whatever their interest is -- ie. going to a planetarium if they are interested in the stars, reading EB White together if they love animals, creating lego mansions and mega forts for those who like to play, hide and build. I love to embrace imagination, encourage interests and help in learning new things.
