About me
One of my favorite things about working with children is their immense capacity to learn from the world around them. As a caretaker, I see the immediate impact a positive role model can have on a child, and that inspires me to be the best babysitter I can be. I believe that children must feel safe and nurtured above all else, and only then can they be entertained, delighted, and challenged.
It is my duty as a caretaker to help reinforce a child's self esteem, to encourage them to try new things, and to help them to work at the activities that they're struggling with. As a writing instructor, I've tutored English-language learners and watched their skills progress over the course of the semester. With children, as with college students, I've found that the more I give, the more I get back.
Particularly for pre-school aged children, I believe that play is vital to development. Play teaches social skills, physical skills, imaginative learning, and self comfort. Learning should be fun, and I pride myself on my ability to make a dull-seeming activity engaging. I'm currently a babysitter to several families, including a three-year-old girl and two six-year-old boys, and I love how diverse their interests are (trains, samurai, bunnies, cartography, robotics!) and how each time I see them they're excited to share these interests with me.
I am a patient and kind caregiver, and I find working with children to be inspiring and fun.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
I love to read and tell stories to children and to help them imagine their own. I think it's important to model kindness and patience, particularly among siblings. I love doing art projects with kids, including clay work, building with cardboard, painting, drawing, and making intricate lego cities! I also think supervised cooking can be a fun activity for children and I love having a helper when preparing meals or snacks.
