About me

As a child, my mom who has been a nanny for 20+ years, would take me to work with her and I fell in love with the kids and family. From that moment, I knew that working with kids would always bring me joy and keep me young at heart (I could be silly and not feel self conscious! What a relief). I began babysitting professionally at the age of 14, mainly after school pick up for about 6 years. I never looked at it as a job and more as a big sister looking out and stimulating my siblings.

I've babysat twins to as many as 5 children at a time so I'm not easily rattled to say the least. I transitioned into full-time nannying as I got older and felt more comfortable with younger babies; now I'm a pro! I've worked with children from the ages of 3 months- 12 years old professionally and it's been a joy, they teach me about myself constantly and keep me humble.

The youngest child I've worked with was 3 months old. When they are this tiny, I spend time paying close attention to what they need. Making a constant rotation of "which cry is this?" and checking if they are wet, hungry, gassy, or uncomfortable (clothes, cramps etc).

From the ages of 6 months to 14 months, I focus on the leap of activity in all they are trying to accomplish, and make sure to assist them with expanding their motor and language skills. I love reading to them, singing, placing toys just out of reach so they are challenged to go after it, getting on the floor to demonstrate crawling/rolling, and experimenting with limb motion as well. When we take nature walks together I make sure to point out the bigger things that are easily identifiable, such as "car' or 'white car," depending on the age and how much attention I am holding at the moment.

With my tots, I constantly vacillate between safe allowances and establishing clear boundaries. I find it fun and easier for them if I explain why things work the way they do or how things work. We play anything from froggy jump games that works on their balance and leg strength to stacking whatever we can to allow them to bulldoze the great sky scrapers we create. I love singing to my tots because their ability to repeat often makes it a fun interaction for the both of us.

My approach for childcare is very much centered around each individual child and I allow their traits to influence how I interact with them. I am very sensitive and attuned with the feelings of not just children, but the adults I work with so we can create a trusting, strong bond with great open communication. I love to mix things up I've learned from my early childhood major along with improv tricks I've learned through acting to keep the child/children activated/stimulated, while paying special attention to when they are ready for some downtime (depending on my schedule with them).
