About me

Hi!

My name is Lindsay and I am a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University's Musical Theater program. I love kids and have had experience working with them professionally babysitting all ages! I have been babysitting since I was 12 years old, when my neighbors were looking for help, and then branched out to the rest of my community until I went to college. I enjoy playing games with kids, getting creative with arts and crafts, making up plays on the fly, helping with homework, and reading their favorite books (I'm an actor, so this helps make them really fun, especially if there's a homemade fort involved!). I'm happy to run any errands you might need done or take your kids or dogs for walks, or just anything you might need help doing.

During college I worked at the Breakers Resort in Palm Beach, Florida as part of their babysitting/camp counselor department for children of all ages as well as working at a Performing Arts summer camp in the Catskills. There, I was in a bunk with girls ages 8-12. Later on I was a division leader where I was in charge of over 100 children ages 8-12 as well as 25 staff.

For many summers, I have also worked at the French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts, which is a summer camp in Upstate New York. I lived in bunks with girls ages 8-12 and 12-14. I also worked as a Head Counselor for a summer where I was in charge of over 120 8-12 year old girls and 20+ adult staff.

Since moving to the city four years ago, I have worked with a number of different families with elementary school aged children! I also teach voice lessons and kids musical theater classes during the year with children ages 7-18! I currently work part time during the week for a wonderful family on the Upper East Side.

One of my favorite memories took place while I was working as a college babysitter: I was working with a family with two young girls and it was STORMING outside, and the power went out. We went on a hunt for some flashlights, and along the way picked up every pillow and blanket to make the most epic safety-rain fort imaginable. In there, it wasn't raining or scary! We also added extra decorations, tons of glitter stars, sang lots of songs, and read their favorite books until the worst of the storm passed. We had a lot of fun in there and fort-making is definitely a part of my special skills now!

I love working with children because it teaches you so much about who you are as a person, and I love helping them grow into who will become as adults! I am excited to begin my journey as a Smartsitter, and look forward to hearing from you!

All the best,
Lindsay

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to instill in them my love for reading and learning, so we make all sorts of homework games to keep them engaged and making it fun! I love to share with them my love of the arts! I'm always about making anything as artistic as possible so we can keep their imagination flourishing! And, if it can be made into a song, even better!!
