About me

Hi! My name is Brooke and thank you for taking the time to read about me! A little bit about me. I am originally from the midwest; I grew up in Green Bay Wisconsin and attended the University of Milwaukee- Wisconsin where I graduated with a Social Studies Education degree. While in college I ran Division 1 track and field as well as cross country where I gained great value for time management, hard work and organization. I also know the importance of staying active, staying involved and sticking to something when life throws you curve balls! While also being a full time-student athlete I was also nannying for families on the side.

I first acquired my "babysitting" license on my 11th birthday, so I knew that working with children was going to be the path for me and I have never looked a different way! I started off organizing activities from the neighborhood, to eventually growing and acquiring great responsibility.

Most recently I have been a park and recreational coordinator where I supervised park programs, and supervised roughly 50, children at a park. Even more recently I served as a full-time summer nanny in 2015, I was a live in Au Pair in the Czech Republic during the summer of 2016 also while providing after school, part-time and weekend care throughout my college years. Not to mention, I have one of the best full time jobs as a 9th grade social studies teacher :)

I have experience with driving children to and from their destinations, as well as experience with special needs, twins, and children ranging from ages newborn to 15! I have experience with children on the subway, in crowded places and in places we both may not be familiar with. I also have strengthened my ability to prepare meals, lunch prep, tending to other household needs such as laundry and cleaning, and also being able to handle myself and the other children in an emergency situation. Aside from my experience alone, I am a happy, genuine, reliable, caring, caregiver who has had the pleasure of nannying for multiple families and forming long-lasting and meaningful relationships.

One of the best things about being a caregiver outside of teaching is truly forming relationships with children and seeing them grow and develop. I have known since the 6th grade that I wanted to be around children of all ages and I have never looked back! I am eager to meet you and become a part of your family :)

In 5 years, I hope to be...

I hope to still be in New York City, healthy, active and still working as a teacher :) As far as teaching goes, I hope to be established to the point where I do not have to rebuild my curriculum from year to year.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to encourage a sense of exploration and adventure in kids of all ages. Children are sponges and I love to see what kinds of things they discover, I love to hear their questions and help them find their answers. I love to encourage reading, writing and of course life and history skills! I also like to teach children of being restorative by talking through situations that may be troubling to them and working with them to find a healthy outcome to their situation.
