About me
Hello! My name is Anne, and I am a teacher and performer in New York City. I am originally from a suburb of Philadelphia, and I moved to New York for college. Since studying theater and education at NYU, I have been teaching all over the city, and I love working with my students and watching them learn. I began by teaching general education Third and Fourth Grades at a private school, and I especially enjoyed working with students on reading and math. I then spent a year teaching drama at a public school in Queens with students grades K-3.
This year, I worked as a teaching artist, teaching theater and dance at public and private schools across the city. During this time, I have also worked as a private tutor and a babysitter for several families. Spending time one-on-one with kids helps me to get to know them better and cater to their interests. I also love watching them grow and learn! I am extremely calm and organized, but I also love to be silly and share jokes with children. I have experience teaching students grades PreK-5, and I have provided childcare for ages 5-13. I understand that being in the position of caretaker and being welcomed into a family's home is a great responsibility; I am excited to get to know every new child and their family!
I have professional child care experience with...
- Preschoolers
- School-aged (K-5)
- Preteen
- Special Needs
In 5 years, I hope to be...
In five years I hope to be continuing my work as a dance and theater teaching artist across the city. I also hope to be moving into a leadership position at one of the arts organizations I work for, providing support and development for new teaching artists.
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
I am passionate about sharing my love of theater and dance with children. I know many theater games and activities, and I enjoy creating dances with children to their favorite songs. I also love visual arts and working on crafts with them. When I was a kid, I used to love working on kid-friendly recipes in the kitchen, so I would enjoy cooking with children as well!
