About me

I have one older brother and two younger sisters. I am the eldest girl and it is so cool to be the older sister! I have always watched my sisters when they were younger so now that they're older our bond is completely unbreakable! My earliest experiences servicing children, began when I volunteered in a daycare and I loved it! I learned so much from my colleagues and administrators. One major takeaway was the importance of creating safe, nurturing and structured environments for children. This secured the foundation for me to pursue a career in early childhood education. I've had the honor to work with children in these stages of development; toddlers through elementary school aged children in summer camps, after school programs, and currently as an assistant teacher in a public school. These experiences allowed me to use prior knowledge to service children in diverse neighborhoods in New York City. During these experiences I realized socio-emotional skills are so important for young learners, because this area of development promotes healthy relationships with adults, peers, and builds self-esteem.

These professional experiences coupled with my academic knowledge has allowed me to enhance my communication skills when building positive relationships with children and their families. During my coursework I've developed the philosophy that children learn best through social interaction, and tactile experiences. As a result, my contribution to a child's learning environment, includes enthusiasm through activities and educational games to cultivate a fun and active atmosphere.

My hobbies include reading, and spending time with my family. I enjoy science experiments, arts and crafts and performing arts.
