About me

I grew up in a family of 4 boys. I had fantastic role models in my parents and my older siblings. When my little brother was born I was 9 years old, and took on a lot of responsibility with him from day one. I knew even at that age that I was good with kids. Whether as a football or basketball coach, a theatre director, a babysitter, an uncle, a brother, I think I can bring out the best in kids. Just recently I taught a child to tie his shoes, that's something that seems so easy and trivial, but you can make an impact on someone's life every day, and there's no greater reward than knowing you contributed to the growth and development of a young person.
One of my first professional positions in childcare was as a basketball and football coach to kids age 8-14, and I continued doing this until I graduated college. I also worked as a lifeguard at a very crowded waterpark, so I had to learn basic first aid, I was CPR certified and learned how to deal with people with chronic seizures.
As I became more experienced in the theatre world, I started directing shows and working in theatre summer camps for kids of all ages. During one summer while I was directing a show, I spent my mornings looking after a teenage boy with Autism. His mother is a doctor, and from her I learned first hand about Autism, and built a great relationship with her son and the whole family.
Since 2012, I have worked as a musician and an actor all over the world, but every time I return to the city I continue to babysit as I audition. While many people in my field wait tables or bartend, I find babysitting to be extremely rewarding. I love leaving every day knowing I contributed to the growth, learning, and development of who I'm working with. In New York I have worked for more than 5 families, with kids from age 2-12.
I've worked with kids of all ages, but since moving to New York City and started babysitting as a job, I've worked with boys 2-13. As an athlete and also a performer, I really pride myself on being able to take an interest in a child's interests! if they like music, I can teach piano, guitar, voice, drums, and more. If they are athletic, I can take them outside and give them pointers in almost any sport! Obviously there's no cookie cutter way to babysit, I love being able to adapt to keep kids engaged and off their phones or TVs.
