About me

Hailing from a family filled with cousins, it was always my job to "go entertain them." As a budding performer with a love for making up songs, a captive audience was all I needed. Now, as a performer and teacher, I still enjoy spreading my passion for creativity and the power of the imagination to children. I've always babysat, not out of necessity, but because I truly love it.

I was thrown into babysitting as a teen, caring for the 3 kids who lived up the street from me. They were 2, 4, and 6 when I started and sometimes I can't even believe their parents just handed them over to me. Evening babysitting turned into full days, and after 5 years of babysitting them you could find me driving the parents' car, picking up the kids from school, and making dinner with ease. I have cared for children of all ages, covering everything from reading stories at bedtime to chaperoning to baseball practice to fixing booboos on the busy Brooklyn streets.

Throughout my life, I've sought out opportunities to work with kids in different ways. In high school, I volunteered to teach acting in the after school program for underprivileged elementary school students in the area. In college, I continued to babysit on my breaks, and I assistant directed a performing arts camp for a group of 100 students. Now, I teach improv comedy to students ages 4-12, and it's what I look forward to each week. My students are the best and funniest improvisers I know, and I am constantly learning from their openness and imagination.

I pride myself on maintaining safety and structure, while letting creativity run free. As a teacher, I've learned to be present in the moment and adapt to any situation. When 12 four year olds are dancing and one pees herself, you learn to think fast!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

It is so important to me to encourage creativity in all its forms. I love to share the power of the imagination and improvisation with children. It's all about how far our imaginations can go whether we are pretending to be Anna and Elsa in Frozen or two potatoes cooking in the oven. I also love to share my love of music and singing. You will always catch me trying to make up new songs with the kids I babysit and I have been known to direct a few epic music videos. In improv we always say, "There are no wrong answers", and I encourage children to find their own voices and think for themselves. I am constantly asking, "Well, what do you think?"
