About me

I am a special education teacher born and raised in New York City to French parents! I went to the United Nations School for 13 years (K-12th grade) and then went down south to North Carolina. I graduated with a B.S. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and most recently, I graduated from PACE Graduate School with my Masters in Teaching. Throughout all of these experiences I have always worked with kids!

In middle school and high school I worked as a summer camp counselor at the United Nations International School working with groups of twenty 4 year olds. I then worked at the JCC on the Upper West Side in the 3's and 4's for 3 summers. Working at summer camps allowed me to watch children grow into their own skin while exploring new activities, games and topics that are of interest to them. I worked with a team of counselors to create lessons, art projects, science experiments and recipes that would be of interest for the campers. We also participated in swim lessons, trips to the park and different theatrical shows.

Throughout college I worked with a variety of families as a babysitter. I have worked with children from 4 weeks to 12 years old. I have worked full days as well as date nights.

Lastly, I have been a special education teacher in the NYCDOE for the last two years. I currently work with a K-2 class of 8 students with severe special needs. I have students on the Autism Spectrum, students with Down Syndrome, Epilepsy, Cerebral Palsy and Multiple Disabilities. I am the main teacher and I am in charge of teaching ELA, Math, Social Studies, Science, Art, Yoga and Daily Living Skills. I absolutely love my job and my students and would not change a thing about them!

My vast experience with children over the last 8+ years have formed me into the childcare giver I am today! I have worked with children 6 weeks to 12 years of age, as well as students with special needs and multiples.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

working with children. I have yet to decide if I will pursue a degree in nursing or in psychology, or if I will still be in education, but it will definitely involve kiddos!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to give children the opportunity to try something new, different or interesting. I am the first one willing to engage in a messy science experiment, bake a new and healthy cupcake or explore a new playground. I strive to create an environment in which children feel comfortable enough to take risks that allow them to grow as individuals all while being safe and feeling like they can trust me. I enjoy doing arts and crafts, running around outside, going for a swim or laying in bed and reading a book. I am ready to deal with conflicts between siblings, the child who likes to push boundaries and the child who misses their mom before bed because these are all situations that allow for growth. At the end of the day I simply aim to see the happiness, comfort and excitement in a child's' eyes.
