About me
Babysitting is an opportunity to bring about greatness in another human being. This is my guiding principle when interacting with children. I have worked in youth development since high school, at first volunteering as a tutor for at-risk youth. I have worked in a formal classroom setting teaching elementary math, and also served as a training manager and educational administrator for teens and young adults. Coupled with that, is my over two year experience caring for children from birth to five years while working full time in a day care/pre-school setting.
I believe in creating an environment for children where expectations are clearly communicated and systems put in place to support them. I am also an avid communicator and absolutely enjoy talking with children. They ALWAYS have something to say and I LOVE to listen.
As a kinesthetic learner, that's how I teach and impart new concepts. I teach letters by word/object association, having kids find objects in the house with the chosen letter. Reading and all activities are linked to something the child has experienced. In general, my aim is to always impact a child positively, and have them learn something good and new from me.
I have professional child care experience with...
- Infants
- Toddlers
- Preschoolers
- School-aged (K-5)
- Preteen
- Teenagers
- Multiples
In 5 years, I hope to be...
Have impacted the lives of thousands of youth by helping them master the skill of conscious goal setting. I want to be known for helping youth become more confident, assertive individuals, because of the their abilities to chart their own course and work purposefully to achieve their dreams.
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
I LOVE teaching Math concepts using every day items and situations. A cooking lesson teaches addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Administering medicine becomes a class in fractions and the metric system. A game of Connect Four teaches the concepts of horizontal, vertical and diagonal. EVERYTHING for me is a learning experience.
