About me

I have always had a love of working with children. I believe that all learning should be fun, and when working with children there are always teachable moments. It is important to foster these teachable moments and provide children with opportunities to ask questions and to think deeply about their experiences and about the world around them. In a diverse and dynamic city like New York, there are so many opportunities for learning and exploring, even when just taking the subway or walking home from school. I make it a goal to think positively and enjoy everyday experiences. Every moment is an opportunity to learn and have fun.

As a school psychologist in an elementary school, I have a lot of experience with elementary school students. I have a master's degree in education (school psychology) and an advanced certificate in school psychology. In addition to my role as a school psychologist, I also babysit and tutor children after school hours.

I love my job as a school psychologist because I am able to work with children everyday to help them solve problems and to be successful in the classroom. I also spend a lot of time working with parents and teachers to develop strategies and interventions to improve academic skills. I work with students one-on-one when they are faced with issues that come up both at school and at home. When working with children after school or over the summer in a babysitting role, I have found it is important to set up a safe, organized, and structured environment, but at the same time maintain a level of fun, exploration, and adventure in the everyday routine. I believe that children learn by doing; for this reason, they should be given opportunities to engage in hands-on learning in order to foster their problem solving and creative skills. Overall, I am passionate about working with children and families.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

In 5 years I hope to be working towards my PhD in psychology/school psychology. I am hoping to get as much hands experience as I can working with children and families so I can learn, develop my skills, and narrow in on specific areas that I would like to specialize in.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love volleyball, soccer, running, biking and swimming; I would enjoy doing any of these activities with the children that I work with! I also love reading and I am great with homework help. Some of my other interests that I enjoy sharing with the children I work with include visiting museums, baking, fashion, art projects, and science experiments. I am experienced with elementary school children, great with homework help/tutoring/school organization, and I love to cook. I also really love dogs and cats, but I don't have any of my own. I am extremely organized, big on communication, and I make being punctual a priority.
