About me

I grew up mostly in Vancouver, Canada and moved to NYC in 2014. I've always loved babies and kids, and first broke into the babysitting world at age 10, when I was a mother's helper. Since then I've worked with tons of different families, children of all ages (starting at two weeks old). I have also worked as a Jewish Youth Group leader each month, running programs for kids in 5th through 8th grade. I've spent four summers working at a summer camp in Olympia, WA as a counsellor and then as a program director and mental health advisor for the counsellors. In the more recent years, I've been working as a daycare employee at an after-school program and in a school as a classroom assistant and drama teacher.

I've done lots of part-time babysitting, as well as occasional date nights. Over the past few years, since moving to New York, I've worked with many different families doing after-school jobs. I've also spent a few years working with infants as young as 2 weeks old.

Since I'm an actor, I'm always involved in different projects like student films, theatre, showcases and I'm now writing my first full length play. I also have a background in improv comedy- something I've been doing since 2009. I love bringing my improv experience into babysitting jobs- it makes things fun and helps me to think on my feet if I'm ever in a difficult situation. It's great for problem solving and entertainment!

I also love to cook and am more than happy to cook for children while babysitting. I'm very familiar with allergies so I have no problem working around them. Getting kids to eat their fruits and veggies can be tough but I like to explore different foods and finding creative ways to make them appealing to children.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Making theatre and working with young artists. I love to teach as well so I hope to someday found a children's theatre company!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Playing! I'm a big advocate on kids exploring and using their imaginations. Whether they like playing house (I always have to play the dad), tackling a puzzle or writing our own movie script, I think kids should be encouraged to get creative while they play. In this time of extreme technology, most of the kids I babysit have their own iPads. I'm all for movie nights every now and then, but I have no trouble finding alternative ways to have fun. I also love to cook and if the kids are interested, I like to encourage them to help as much as possible in safe ways.
