About me

I have been working with children for almost all of my life! I have always been drawn to working with children because I get to engage with imagination and creativity every day. I have 15 years of experience, working as a teacher and a nanny with a wide range of ages.

I come from a musical theater background and spent most of my youth studying the performing arts. While in Hampshire College, I chose to pursue theater and education, finding a passion for early education rooted in arts integration.

After finishing college, I worked in various Early Education Centers, focusing on schools that were Montessori and arts based. I have taught in Pre-2s, 2s, 3s, and 4s classrooms. Additionally, I worked in after-school and enrichment classes. I have taught baby sign language, ballet, hip hop, gymnastics, sports, science, cooking, math, art, theater and Spanish to children aged 5 months to 12 years.

In the last few years, I chose to pursue nannying full-time, loving the freedom to explore the city and the ability to give special attention to the little ones in my care. I'm very community driven, so I love scheduling play dates and getting to know the friends and grownups in a child's life. Additionally, I gained an understanding of how important a clean, organized space is for a successful day in my classroom and enjoy keeping the home I work in tidy and organized.

I believe that children need structure, but the structure provided should include opportunities and space for independent child-driven play. I enjoy taking on the responsibility of keeping a home running successfully and sharing these tasks with the children in my care, helping them become a part of the team and fostering curiosity in the little tasks of daily life. Additionally, I do not rely on time-outs or more punitive disciplinary tactics, relying instead on talking through their problems and feelings.

It's such a wonderful job to be a part of a child's learning and growth! I have such pride for the work I do. I get to go to work each day knowing I've helped the future generation grow!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love fostering all forms of creativity. I enjoy creating stories with children through art, dancing and singing. I love making art through all different types of mediums, sometimes getting a little messy in the process. Sometimes, getting messy is a great opportunity to teach children how to clean up after ourselves too! Using my experience as a teacher, I think of each moment as an opportunity to learn, be it math, literacy, science, or social skills.
