About me
I recently completed my B.A. in Art with a concentration in Art Education and a minor in Psychology. I plan to pursue a career in Art Therapy in order to work with trauma victims of all ages. I began working as a nanny the summer before college and I believe that this helped to give me a strong work ethic. I pride myself on being responsible, honest, punctual, and, above all, a loving and positive influence on children. I have held positions as an art teacher, soccer coach, therapeutic summer camp counselor, after-school and occasional babysitter, and regular nanny. Caring for children has always come naturally to me, and throughout my seven years of experience, I have been lucky enough to work with every type of child ranging from newborn twins to multiples under 5 and preteens. I also have medical and special needs experience.
When working with children I always try to incorporate my personal interests in history, foreign language, and art. My favorite memories with children include reading BrainQuest flashcards in Central Park, wandering through the Natural History Museum on a rainy day, and popping into interesting art galleries between activities. I love teaching new creative skills and nurturing an open mind, which I believe is a valuable skill to have while living in a major city and in a globalized world. Personally, I am always trying new things and exploring new interests which lend itself well to babysitting since children are always on the move and things are always changing!
