About me

Growing up in Ireland, my own mother was one of eight brothers and sisters. Being one of the elder cousins, I was often taking care of the younger ones from an early age. Throughout my teens, I often babysat for the neighbor's children, and when I moved to NY to study performing arts, I began babysitting the son of one of my college professors. I have taken care of a wide range of ages, from toddlers to early teens.
   
I have always loved the company of children and find them refreshing to be around. I think viewing the world through a child's eyes is something that all of us adults should do more of and I recently co-founded my own theatre company - The Pond Theatre Company. I am also a playwright, and mentor young adults in playwriting. It is safe to say I am a creative person at heart. I do find that creativity, imagination, and being able to think outside the box certainly comes in handy when working with kids. I love reading with kids, as well as art projects and learning through creative play. Being in the company of children often requires flexibility, and thinking on your feet- skills I think I have mastered, due to my other fields of study.
   
It is important to me that I get fulfillment from any work that I do. Working with children, teaching them, as well as learning from them, is about as fulfilling as you can get.
