About me

I admire the honesty, curiosity, and excitement of children. Working with children keeps me active and happy and keeps my imagination working hard. I consider it the perfect compliment to my work on stage. Children provide me with character inspiration and I, in turn, provide them with a safe and fun environment to explore their tiny human existence.

I have always primarily been employed in childcare. I started as a mother's helper at the age of thirteen with a family that had 4 children (now 5) one of whom has serious disabilities. I stayed with that family over the next decade very regularly. As the years went on I gained more and more responsibility and began to take on other families. I found that I enjoyed the work very much. I am still incredibly close with this family and consider them to be a part of my own family.

One of the great passions in my life has been helping parents raise their children. I have learned countless wonderful things from my many families over the years and I never get tired or bored by the developments in the childcare field. Every child is a small human in training and I find joy in helping them interact with this beautiful world and with their growing selves.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

In five years I see myself as a working actor in NYC supplementing my income as a nanny.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I speak pig latin poorly and gibberish fluently. I have remedial French, German, and Italian. I moonlight as a classical voice teacher and spent a year teaching musical theatre voice and Acting 1 to college students at the University of Kansas. I've given lessons in beginner piano and voice to interested kids over the years and love to encourage an appreciation of music with my charges. I have an Open Water Certification from PADI in SCUBA diving and a general love of swimming. I've taken kids to the pool for fun and lessons regularly and consider basic swimming skills incredibly important. I have a Wilton cake decorating certification. I think children can learn cooking and baking skills as soon as they can hold a spoon. Taking an active role in food preparation helps children learn to make healthy diet choices for life. In college I took a tournament Scrabble class and am really awesome at board games. I have a love for learning new things and a bigger love of fostering curiosity in kids.
