About me

My name is Ty and I am an active teacher and actor in NYC! I currently work as a Site Supervisor for an after school arts enrichment program and love seeing young students grow from exploring different outlets to express themselves. In this role I make sure all staff, specialty teachers, and children are in compliance with the NY DOH and OCFS. I not only make sure everyone is safe, but create an atmosphere for everyone to learn.

I have previously worked as a manny, director, and teacher with various ages ranging from 4-18 and diverse backgrounds including special needs and English language learners. As a manny for a single parent family, I helped schedule appointments, grocery shopped, and performed odd jobs around the house. Aside from scheduling, I also made sure to get the 10 year old boy to his multiple appointments each week. Because the boy had some minor dietary issues, I had to be sure to cook a strict high protein meal with good sources of fat, but could only allow him 4 grams of sugar per meal.

As a director and teacher I always try to incorporate activities that will make things current and fun, but a learning experience for students to express themselves. Aside from these child related experiences I have also volunteered abroad in Malawi, Africa. There I was helping women and children to become more sustainable in their daily lives, taught English and health, and performed music as a way to connect. I currently serve as a volunteer coordinator for an NGO in the country of Malawi.

Because I am so passionate about the arts I always try to find ways to use different artistic mediums as a source to learn, grow, and have fun. Using the arts to teach children lets me connect my passions of performance and childcare in one! Other passions of mine are being active and eating clean, which are two very important qualities to teach to growing children. I am originally from the midwest from the grand ol' state of North Dakota. After graduating from college I moved to Chicago with my lovely wife to pursue our passions. The 3 years in Chi Town were amazing, but we were set on living in the Big Apple before we decide to have children of our own!
