About me

Hello! My name is Charlie and I love kids!

I am an actor/singer who moved to New York City from a small town in eastern North Carolina. My favorite things about children are their curiosity, imaginations, and optimism! I believe that childcare should be a fun, "process over product" experience. With me, the emphasis is always placed on the journey, rather than the end destination - be that in arts and crafts, learning how to sing, and everything in-between!

Growing up in a big family, I began babysitting at an early age - caring for children of all ages, particularly 3-8 year olds. I also worked as a lifeguard, which taught me the importance of safety, awareness, and constant attentiveness. Before moving to New York City, I graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre. I was surprised and excited to discover just how well my skills and lessons from theatre translated over to the world of childcare! Especially my creativity, imagination, and problem-solving skills!

Since moving to NYC in the fall of 2014, childcare has taken on a bigger, much welcomed role in my life. I've worked as a class instructor, special events team member, and preschool teacher for places like Gymboree Play and Music and the NY Kid's Club. In addition, I had the privilege of nannying the sweetest 4-year-old girl for 6 months. One of my favorite experiences ever!

Taking care of children fulfills and enriches my life! My fellow actor friends always complain about their soul-sucking "survival jobs". Not me! I'm truly lucky, because as a nanny or babysitter, I LOVE going to work every day!
