About me
I grew up in a large family of six and I was surrounded by laughter and love on a daily basis. I learned commitment, discipline, and obedience at an early age when I started ballet at the age of four. Around the age of 10, I would help out in the nursery at church by babysitting the younger children. While attending college I began falling in love with teaching kids dance as well as other life skills. I incorporated fun games to keep their interest as they learned the steps. As I got older, I was able to train with my mentor who had over 25 years of experience in teaching kids, child development, and gymnastics. It was an honor to learn the styles and techniques to teach children.
After college, I moved to NYC to attend the American Musical and Dramatic Academy as well as teach kids gymnastics and manage a school in Battery Park City. I was able to teach both children and parents the proper way for kids to climb stairs, crawl, run, and eventually teach them cartwheels and handstands. While teaching, I became Safety and CPR certified.
Upon graduating, I moved back to Florida to work with Gymboree's Play and Learn school where I taught babies from ages 6 months to 5 years child development and social skills. As I was teaching, I was offered a position as the preschool director for Reflex Gymnastics in Orlando, FL where I was able to create structured classes including music, songs, and movement for the entire program. A year later, I was offered a position to teach privately one on one with a child with autism to help further his social skills. I was also working part time as a nanny for a family where I would help out with after school care, meal prep, life coaching skills, and tutoring.
I think the best part about working with children is having the ability to introduce them to new life skills and hobbies. I always ask the parents what their children like to do and what they'd like their children to learn, because with my techniques and skills I've been able to teach any skill or subject to a child by making it fun. I'm a strong advocate for finding the right communication style and love expression each child obtains, because with that knowledge I can teach accordingly. I believe every child is unique and has a special gift to offer in this world and as a life coach/teacher, I get the opportunity to help them discover what that gift may be and how to go about pursuing it in the future. I believe in always having enthusiasm when around children and expanding their imaginations. For example, in the past, I have taught kids how to cook, bake, ride bikes, gymnastics, ballet, swing dance, swim, play baseball, and much more.
