About me
I'm a Canadian-American hybrid: born and raised in Toronto, attended college in Montreal, and have been living and working in NYC for 3 years. In both my home countries, I've always made space for my passion of working with kids! As a preteen, I took pride in my title as my neighborhood babysitter, helping out friends and family with their little ones - and even getting a babysitting certificate when I was 12. Since then, I've worked with kids in Toronto, Montreal, and New York from infancy through preteen years (and, thankfully, swapped my babysitting certificate for a real CPR license).
When I moved to NYC, I took a part-time job teaching pre-school in the Upper East Side, and also nannied part-time for the sweetest Cobble Hill family with two boys, 8 months and 2 years (3 boys, if you count their lab pup -- how could you not?). Once I took a full-time social work job, I continued to do date-night sitting for a Chelsea family with a 6-month old baby boy, who I adore! I also occasionally babysit for my cousin's two sweet toddlers and loaf of bread (French bulldog) Ham.
I'm a patient and loving babysitter who believes in nurturing kids' kindness, creativity, and independence - I love reading stories, doing arts and crafts, cooking, listening to music, and playing outside. As a social worker starting graduate school, I strive to be a tolerant, progressive person - so I bring this outlook to childcare, and believe in fostering respect and kindness with the kids I work with. I also have a special place in my heart for infants and toddlers! While I'm not a "career nanny", I put tons of care into the families I work for - it's really important to me to have a good relationship with both kids and their parents (and their pets!), to follow the boundaries and guidelines parents have for their children, and to make sure everyone feels safe and comfortable with me in their home.
