About me

From as far back as I can remember, I have always loved interacting with children because they constantly amaze me with their sense of curiosity, wonder and imagination. I also love that children speak the common language of play, which forms an important basis for exploring ideas, forming relationships and learning about their world. It was this love for children that led me to pursue further study in early childhood education, so that I could deepen my knowledge about how children learn and develop, and thereby be more effective in educating and caring for children.

I have a broad range of experiences working in toddler, preschool and elementary school settings with children aged 2 to 8 years old. Some of these experiences were part of my training as a student teacher, where I was responsible for planning and implementing age-appropriate programs according to children's interests and capabilities. Other experiences include my work as a behavior therapist, where I implemented therapy sessions for children aged 1 to 8 years old in home-based and center-based settings. This role involved working closely with families in a sensitive and respectful manner to understand their concerns and tailor the programs to their child's needs.

I love playing music and exploring the outdoors, which are areas of interest that I weave into my interactions with children. For example, I enjoy singing and creating songs that can help us to reinforce new ideas that we have learned. Also, when we are out in the park, I enjoy exploring leaves, insects and natural elements with children to use them as opportunities to engage with and discover the world around us.

What makes me ME? I'm a creative, relational and curious person who loves exploring new places and learning about the world around me. I consider myself a lifelong learner and enjoy immersing myself in spaces (e.g. museums, libraries) where I can learn about people of the past and how they have shaped the way we live today. I also enjoy innovation and am excited when I am in creative spaces (e.g. art galleries) where I can see the ways that people have evolved in artistic expression over time and presented unique ways of seeing the world through various forms of media.
