About me

My name is Jenna Tierno and I currently attend CSI working towards my Bachelors degree in Special Education. In May of 2013 I received my Associates Degree in Applied Science in Early Childhood ( in Michigan). I have worked at Little Turtle Preschool in the 4-year old room for one year. I have been at Fox Elementary School for 2 years; I was an assistant teacher in a Kindergarten classroom, and after that I was in the ECSE special needs room. I was in the Lowry childcare Center at Oakland University in the toddler room. I also nannied last school year for a family of three children ages 4, 8 and 10. I currently student teach at P.S 9 Elementary in the Pre-K Classroom. I also work in the billing department of a medical office for Dr. Scafuri (on my free time). I am CPR and First Aid Certified as well.

I really enjoy being with children. Arts & crafts is usually what I do anytime I babysit. I recently stopped working for a family of two children ages 5 and 2 ( because I moved to New York ). In that job, I attended speech class with both twice a week. I bring activities and art projects to the house for children to do/make as well as many fun open-ended activities that the children can be involved in. Some of those activities include making homemade play dough, painting with fun paints such as puffy paint or texturized paint, etc. My availability is usually always open to babysit. Knowing a day in advance to babysit works best.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Finished with my masters degree. Married. And hopefully on to opening up my own daycare program or occupational therapy office .

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to do multiple activities. From music and movement, to gross motor activities in or outside. Also I enjoy working on arts and crafts to help develop and progress their fine motor skills. For the young children I like working on number recognition, letter recognition and songs / music to help them with these processes.
